Son Jake has completed two tours of duty in Iraq and son Josh completed one tour in Afghanistan.

    During his career Sheriff Chapman completed a tour as Camp Guard Commander, Camp Delta, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Sheriff Chapman retired as the 178th Military Police Company's First Sergeant after a 16 year career with the National Guard. After being honorably discharged he enlisted in the Georgia Army National Guard. Sheriff Chapman served six years in the United States Marine Corps. He and wife Tammy were married in 1982 and have three sons Jake, Josh and Jordan. Sheriff Joe Chapman is a life long resident of Walton County.
